Amiee stiverson's showcase page
This page is dedicated to my work throughout my Master's of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) from Michigan State University (MSU). This desgree prepared me to use thoughtful technologies in my classroom and share my knowledge with my colleagues.
This Prezi Presentation, Making It Stick, introduces you to my technology experiences. This showcase page was created based on instructions given to me by instructors that I had, but all of the artifacts below were made to enhance my students' learning, parents' understanding of my classroom, and my classroom teaching. I started with the technologies that were easy for me, next showed work that my students could work on either independently or with some guidance, next I spoke about problems that teachers face and how technology can help. Finally, I concluded up with a gaming section. Gaming is the one section that hasn't changed for me throughout my entire journey through the MAET program. The headings depict my journey through my Masters classes, starting with those I was most confident with and ending with a philosophy of gaming that has stuck with me through my journey.
My confidences with technology at the beginning of my journey
The technologies below are the ones that I felt the most confident with in the beginning of my coursework. The standard Microsoft Office Tools were safe for me and easy for me to really push my creativity! I created all the of these artifacts to improve on something within my own classroom. The descriptions are located to the left of the application.
My application of Word was created to showcase my students and their interactive work on my Michigan History Wax Museum.
The application of Excel was used and created to monitor and maintain data based on student behavior. I created a PowerPoint to use at my open house to take parents through the expectations of my classroom and the Michigan state standards. |

Choosing which technology to use for my analysis was a difficult task. I chose to look into using the internet as a research tool within a classroom focusing on its positive and negative aspects.

Showcases students can use as individuals within my classroom
The below course work is all based on students working together with someone. These activities could be done with the teacher sitting with the student, in teams of two, or in larger cooperative learning groups.
This was one of the most unique lessons I created in the CEP courses. I created a WebQuest to use within my classroom. This WebQuest is an inquiry-based lesson in which most or all of the information that is completed by the learner comes from the web. WEBQUEST Along with a WebQuest we had to create a Web Page. Through this website you can see some additional coursework. WEBPAGE

A StAIR is a Stand Alone Instructional Resource. This means that the student should be able to sit and complete this resource independently. I chose to do my StAIR on multiplication through PowerPoint. Along with linking my StAIR I have also linked my StAIR description and my StAIR Report.
Online learning resources are helpful in different ways. For example, when students are unable to attend your classroom. I started using HotChalk as my educational tool for my online lesson, but had to switch due to a 10 day shut down that HotChalk had planned. I switched to Edu2.0 to complete my online lessons. The file to the left is the synopsis of what my class looked like.

Technology used to address a real problem
The following coursework demonstrates how technology was used to help with a problem. The bulk of the following information is pertaining to a TechQuest. This TechQuest used in technology in such a way that a problem was able to be solved.
I have multiple forms uploaded to the right in which I used to complete my TechQuest. I focused on using a blog to make Michigan History more concrete for my students. At the time they were taught Michigan History in third grade and not tested on that information until the sixth grade MEAP test. As you can imagine, a lot of information was lost between third and sixth grade. I set up a blog using knowledge that I gained from CEP 811 with a teaching friend in North Carolina. I used this blog to have my kids teach her kids about Michigan hoping this would solidify their knowledge of our state's history.

The purpose of this was to teach students appropriate strategies to implore when they feel uneasy new concepts. To view my DIGITAL STORYTELLING assignment-scroll down the page under CEP 800 and click Digital Storytelling Project.
The entire focus of this class was educational research. I had a focus and rationale to push me towards my topic. As a teacher and as a school we recognized how difficult it was for our third grade students to maintain their Michigan History knowledge from third grade to sixth grade when they were tested. My research focused on the affects of standardized testing with an emphasis on the testing effects of students.

Gaming within a classroom setting
Gaming is something consistently found within my classroom. My games have evolved from the time that I created this Special Interest Group project, but they are still very present. I typically use some time of app for interventions, enhancements, introductions, and conclusions to lessons.

My group's SIG, or Special Interest Group, proposal focused on providing a place for educators to go and gain access to multiple pages of online gaming sites to use in their regular classrooms for an educational purpose. We focused on the subjects of reading, social studies, math and science. SIG WEBSITE
